Heating Systems

Here is some information about the different kinds of heating systems we offer.

Types of Heating Systems:

In Floor Radiant

- A Little More Expensive: $$

- 97% Efficient

- Have Access to All Your Wall Space

- Enjoy Heated Floors

- Easy Zoning and Very Quiet

- Achieves Good Control of Room Temperature

Hot Water Baseboard

Moderate Price: $

- 97% Efficient

- Uses Hot Water Baseboard Radiators

- Easy Zoning

- Quiet

Furnace Forced Hot Air

Pricing A Little More Expensive Than Baseboard: $$$

- 97% Efficient

- Not Much Interference with Wall Space

- Uses a furnace or heat pump with air ducts

- Redundancy with 2 Sources of Heat

- Easy to Add HRV and AC

- Easy to Add Humidifiers, Air Filters, and Other Equipment.

Centrally Ducted Heat Pumps

Pricing is around the same as Forced Hot Air: $$$

- Qualified Efficiency Vermont Pro Contractor Member

- Conventional Hot Air Handler System

- A central heat pump distributes heat and cool air through ductwork connected to vents in each room.

- Efficient Heating and Cooling

- Potential Rebates Offered from GMP and EV

- Easy to Add HRV

- Easy to Add Air Filters and Humidifiers / Dehumidifiers

Ductless Heat Pump System / Mini-Splits

Ductless Heat Pumps usually cost a little less than other options: $

- Qualified Efficiency Vermont Pro Contractor Member

- Good for adding AC

- Heat and cool very efficiently

- Does not take up much space

- Great rebates offered

- Great solution if you already have solar

Air To Water Heat Pump Air Handler

Pricing for these systems are usually more expensive given the reliability: $$$

- Supplies Low Temperature Water for Heating & Chilled Water for Cooling

- High Performance Heating in Cold Climates Extremes Down to -22°F

- 42°F-130°F Delivered Water Temperatures

- Freeze Protection

- Eligible for Rebates from the federal and state municipalities.

Geothermal Heating & Cooling Heat Pump

Geothermal systems are more expensive initially but are very environmentally friendly : $$$

- Energy Independent, tap into the endless heat below your yard. Never buy (or run out of) fuel oil again.

- Long-lasting equipment reliable heating and cooling for decades. Geothermal heat pumps typically last 20 to 25 years, and the ground loops installed in the yard can last more than 50 years.

- Very safe no flames and no fumes.

- Qualify for generous federal, state, and utility tax incentives

Heat Pump Water Heater

Heat pump water heater systems typically have higher initial costs but lower operating costs: $$

- Two to three times more energy efficient than conventional electric resistance water heaters

- Pulls heat from the surrounding air and transfers it -- at a higher temperature -- to heat water in a storage tank

- Heat pump water heaters require installation in locations that remain in the 40º–90ºF

- Heat pump water heaters will not operate efficiently in a cold space since they tend to cool the space they are in.
